Upper neck pain and headache

Like at the base of my skull, the pain is periodic but very painful.how can i relieve this?

I would use ibuprofen, then I would lie down with a hot water bottle under the area
Could it be tension?

Yes i think its tension but my whole neck is now tense and i'm getting that horrible dry throat feeling that happens before my panic attacks.

I have had this a long time. I would use ibuprofin and ice for temporary relief, but finally just went to my chiropracter who really fixed me up long term.

It started happening when i was ironing, i'm 6'2 and my ironing board is pretty low, so i have to bend my head down. I'm thinking the worst, like it could be some cancer or something in my neck. But i think i might have strained the same area a few weeks ago excercising. The pain is like a short stabbing pain in the back of my head.
