Hello,

I have been waking up with panic attacks. I have been prescribed flouoxetine (sp?) which goes under the same name as Prozac, but have to wait about a month for it to start working.

I'm a bit negative at the moment because I'm worried about job hunting and turning up tired to interviews. It's nice to finally join this website though.

Hi Bella

I would say a good 6 weeks to get the best effect and if by then you don't feel better go back to your doctor and discuss alternatives. Everyone is different and therefore you may feel tired or not. best of luck

Thank you very much, Ricardo.

I have heard that flouxetine can make people more anxious when they first start it. This is putting me off taking my first dose.

Feeling heightened anxiety is common when starting an SSRI such as Fluoxetine. Dont let it put you off, this will soon ease as your body gets used to the drug.

Welcome to the forums! :) I'm on a similar medication and it did make me a bit more anxious for the first 5 days or so, but then I started to get better.
