dentist disaster!

Had the dentist today, normally im ok, havent really had any problems and im not scared of needles, but because i knew what was coming...that was it! he couldnt get near me, ive had to referred for sedation!!
my main anxiety symptom is gagging, i get the retching feeling and i just cannot control it, i thought i would be ok with deep breathing etc, but as soon as i opened my mouth and he tried to put his hand in...that was it!!

he he.. your not on your own! My last visit was similar. Went outside 2 or 3 times and let others go before me. I wasn't scared of the dentist or the needle, it was the agoraphobia that was doing it. And he was a new one who had taken over mine which I have had for the last 27 years! Bet he thought "we got a right one here" and it was only for a check up :D Managed it eventually.. phew! bet I needed ten fillings and he dare not tell me :roflmao:

Instead of sedation, have you got any calmer tabs you could take before going? xx

Its all about breathing through yr nose! I have a tiny mouth and a fear of being sick and u just have to keep breathing through yr nose. I bring music to listen to as well.

I go to a specialist dental surgery that has an anxiety clinic and they give sedation so you are not alone.
