My wife went to see the ENT this AM. A brief history...
got sick in August (prob sinutitis)
noticed little swollen lymph node side of neck, under ear
had ultrasound and blood work
u/s showed likely reactive node. blood work showed his TSH (so underactive thryoid)
had another u/s of neck, and thyroid. And another blood test
blood test was normal this time
u/s showed aggivated thyroid, likely Hishomotis (underactive thyroid).
lymph node again looked reactive
referred to ENT 6 weeks ago by GP
Over the 6 weeks, felt better. Small lymph node or bump still there.
Today she saw ENT. ENT felt her neck, couldn't feel any lymph nodes. Said what my wife thinks was the node prob wasnt. Said Hishomotos not a big deal, just follow up yearly with GP. Told her she seemed fine, and to come back in a few months if she felt worse again.
That is the good. The part I was unsure of was that she said the second u/s (she only saw the 2nd, not the first) showed a 2cm lymph node. The Dr tried, and couldn't find it.
I had a 2.4cm lymph node last year, and it was pretty easy to feel. I am pretty sure if my wife had this node of 2cm, it must have been inside neck where you cannot feel. I am a bit concern about this. Although she was sick, and I guess the thyroid issue can also cause swollen nodes.
Should I still be worried?
