Hi All

Can anyone help with this. About two nights ago i think i had a panic attck in my sleep i couldn't open my eyes my breathing went strange like i was trying grasp for air.

I finaly woke up feeling very hot my heart wasn't really that fast i couldn't get back to sleep for ages thinking wot the hell was that, i've never had one in my sleep before.

I'm not really stressed about anything so i don't know why i had one.
I've been doing really well not had a panic attack for a few years now maybe it was just a blip i hope so.

Has anyone ever had one in their sleep?

Lin,

Hi ya mate - just like to say yes I have had a patch of having panic attacks in my sleep last year and it was most unpleasent. I was dreaming not nice stuff either and felt like I was forgetting to breathe or something.

Much like all our other symptoms the less we pay attention to them the quicker they move on.

How are the palpitations these days???

Hi Lin, I have had these too. They just came at random times, it seems. I am of the belief that so much of our anxiety stems from nightime.

Take heart in the fact that these don't last forever. I haven't woken with one for a year, although I do often wake up unexpectedly but it isn't that bad.

Take Care,

Ray

Hi Lin panic attacks while sleeping are very common and ill tell you why.Your nervous system responds to your mood. For eg when you feel the mood of fear your heart starts beating fast, your stomach churns etc. While sleeping you may feel the mood of fear especially if your having a nightmare which causes you to panic.Jon
