Hi All,
I've attended a couple of meet ups in Leeds with members off this site and have really enjoyed them and made good friendships through them.
I would be interested in starting up a meet in my home town, Liverpool. I have lived in Yorkshire for 12 years but retain my Scouse warmth, humour and accent ;) I always enjoy re connecting with my home town. I visit home as often as possible and would love to meet up with new friends.
I would love to hear from any members interested in meeting up in Liverpool. Please post on this thread or feel free to PM me.
I thought that Bold St would be a good meeting place with it's huge range of lovely cafés and bars. The Albert Dock is another possible central venue. These are just suggestions and by no means set in stone.
I hope to hear back from interested people. We could then get to know each other a little and look at a venue and time that suits us all.

Anywhere is fine with me :) I go to Uni there, so i'm there 3-4 times a week and my boyfriend lives over there, so any time is okay for me!
Maybe the egg cafe ( just off bold street) it's a vegetarian cafe, and whilst I'm not a vegetarian they do all sorts of green teas and it's so lovely and cosy in there :)

I know it seems a while away, but Christmas is creeping up on us and I am away in Edinburgh. Then I am staying in a yurt mid January and attending the Derby meet up at the end of January! (I could not leave the house earlier this year! )
Early February gives us plenty of time to attract interest, chat a little on here prior to meeting and replenish funds after Christmas. Let me know your thoughts?

We all experience anxiety differently and can feel at ease managing our anxiety during our meet up in whatever way helps. If this means staying only a short time or popping to the loo or out of the café for a breather at intervals that is fine :yesyes:
I'm away over the holiday period, but look forward to catching up with everyone when I return in the new year :D

I stayed in a yurt for new year 2 years ago. It had no heating ~ brrrrrrrr! This yurt has a wood burning stove in it & candles...excited! :yahoo:

Think it over and we can talk about this. It could be a good alternative to Leeds meet which you can't travel to right now.

i think i need to look into trains, maybe get a train with someone first one day but defo needing to look at other options even for leeds meet and not sure where to start when thinking about trains and booking and platforms and not sure.
It's all workable. We can discuss it before the meet up :)
um ok, i think, i dont know, but if i went anywhere further than leeds would it be two trains?????? would have to get transport to the train station before could get a train, i will have to look at different options.

Wow! Our get together is now up to 10 members! I'm thrilled with the response and I'm thinking that it may be wise to make a provisional table booking for 12 given the interest shown in this meeting and the small size of the venue. I will call to book this week and update when I have done this :)

No not at all. The city centre in Liverpool is well laid out and not as hectic as Leeds. Where we are meeting is out of the way of Liverpool One shopping centre where it will be busier. The place we are meeting is in a quiet side street and is a very quiet, relaxed, cosy cafe :)

Absolutely this meet is going ahead! :yesyes: The cafe is lovely & there are lots of really nice bars just a hop, skip and jump away too :winks:

We have 9 definites up to now for our first Liverpool meet which is really encouraging for a first meet up. I'm hoping that we can make this a regular get together for us all to enjoy and benefit from :D
There is a lovely mix of people coming along. We all experience and understand anxiety so everyone will be made to feel very welcome and comfortable. From what I know of the people attending there is also a great mix of skills, interests and experiences not to mention a huge dollop of Scouse humour! :winks:
Please feel free to come along at any time from 1pm and stay for as little or as long as feels good for you. Chat as much or as little as you feel comfortable with and feel free to take a breather or do whatever you need to do to manage your anxiety during our get together. This is a friendly get together with like minded people who are coming together to offer support, understanding & friendship.
This will be my first visit home this year and I'm thrilled to be sharing it with new friends I've not met yet :D

Through recent conversations I have 11 definites so will book a table for 11 on Thursday unless I hear from anyone else. Our gang are as follows:

Almost an equal gender balance with 6 laydees & 5 gents attending :)

I'm so looking forward to meeting you all. From my personal conversations with all attending, I can honestly say that we are a real mixed bag of wonderful people with lots to offer and much to gain from this group. I have a really good feeling about our get together. Excitement far outweighs any anxieties I have about attending.
This time last year, I could not leave my home. Right now, I am beaming at the opportunity to meet and share warmth, understanding & develop friendships with such wonderful people.

A huge thank you to all for such a wonderful day! I loved meeting each and every one of you! Thank you all so much for having the courage to step out of your comfort zone. We all have so much to be proud of for our achievements today! :yesyes:
I'm just home and reflecting on what a wonderful group of people I spent today with. We all have so much to offer. I consider you all to be new friends and look forward to the development of our friendships in many get togethers to come :D

Leaf is just around the corner from Egg Café on Bold Street. It is a beautifully decorated cafe bar that is very popular but never feels crowded. A great place to meet & chat. It serves a wide selection of herbal teas including a delicate rose tea, tea, coffee, delicious cakes and meals for those in need of fuel in between chatting! It also has a bar for those wanting to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer.
A few of us called into Leaf on Saturday evening and whiled a way an hour or two before catching our trains home.
This date and venue is not set in stone. It is just a suggestion and very much subject to the availability and preferences of the group. As Liverpool is blessed with such a great café culture, I thought that it would be nice to explore new venues and revisit favourites as our get togethers progress.
All newcomers are more than welcome to attend.
I look forward to hearing your feedback and once we have a date and venue that suits everyone, I will go ahead and book a table for us and pack my case ready for travels homeward bound! :D

Apart from getting lost for an hour, Saturday was great! Really enjoyed meeting you all - definitely felt like a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere between all of us. :) Leaf seems like a very nice venue too... and the food smells and looks great!

I have had more confirmations today so I have gone ahead and booked my train tickets and our table @ Leaf for 10 :yahoo: Our table will be ready for us at 1:30pm. I have advised Leaf that not all of us will be eating and this is fine with them. We have use of the table for as long as we want it until early evening :)
I will private message all who are attending with these details as not everyone who would like to attend is a regular forum user.

For any newcomers ~ our first meet last weekend was a huge success. We are a group of warm, interesting, supportive people. There is a good gender balance within the group with a pretty even balance of men and women and a wide age range from early twenties to fabulous fortysomethings! :D We have a wide range of interests and backgrounds and would welcome any newcomers to the group.
This is a very friendly informal group. Please feel free to join us and stay for whatever length of time that is comfortable for you.

A brief interlude from planning our March meet.
I am already planning our April meet ~ a gal has to keep on her toes! ;) It is Bank Holiday Monday on April 1st, which means for those in our gang who work, you will have a day off! Yay!

Thank you to all for your private messages and enthusiasm about our meets! I'm thrilled with the response and so happy to build friendships with such a warm, interesting and friendly group of genuine people! :yesyes:
As a side note, I will be in Liverpool to attend 'Electrofied Yoga' and an acoustic music set once a month (it seems like these events will take place on the first Tuesday of each month from what I can gather).

Hi All,
The table is booked for this weekend's meet @ Leaf. Me & Antonio cannot make it as we have been ill since before our last meet as you know. We have had recurrent chest infection / flu symptoms and my GP is visiting tomorrow as they are concerned to eliminate other causes including pleurisy & norovirus.
Please go ahead with the meet as planned. We have a planned stay in Liverpool for the bulk of next week. If we get the all clear and are in town next week, I will be in touch to arrange a coffee with all who can attend.
I'll keep you posted.

I'm feeling a little better after a month of viral and chest infections, but still very lethargic and have a fever. I'm laying low for a few more days as I am back in Liverpool next Tuesday - Friday to start a new yoga class. I will also be taking part in my first Fashion Fair in over 5 years! :yesyes:

Lol! I like having things to look forward to, and there's only so much tv I can cope with! Having said that, I do a lot of travel with work in the week so sometimes it's nice to have one day at the weekend to do nothing! (Well, apart from washing, tidying, etc!)
Would be lovely to meet with everyone in Liverpool though, so will hope to make a meet soon.
