urgh hi again..anyone else find that you dont post for weeks then suddenly everything goes wrong at once?

i was in the bath saturday morning when i noticed part of my breast was painful. when i touched the area (right next to the nipple), my heart stopped when i discovered a pea size lump (petite pois pea lol). i had come on that day so i gave myself a good talking to and tried to ignore it.
well, now the pain and redness has gone but the lump is still there just under the skin and i find myself feeling it every chance i get. im now getting too scared to go to the doctors in case its cancer.
i have also been avoiding a smear test for 7 years now as im scared witless of showing off my bits (even tho ive given birth 4 times)...im now worried that when i do go it will come back abnormal!
urgh i feel a mess!!

Sassy,

I swear you sound like me. I went without a smear for 7years as well. I do hate showing "off my bits" but I was so scared to get an abnormal smear. My husband came to me and asked me to do it...I gave in. The test came back normal and I swore that because I was so lucky w/ a normal smear I would go yearly from then on out.

Good luck,

Tina

Hi sassy

I have had four abnormal cancer tests over a period of 4 years quite a long time ago, I am now 38 and fortunately I have been fine in the last 12 years. 3 years ago I took woke up will a pea sized lump. fortunately I have a health anxietu which i think actually help ( STRANGE THING TO SAY I KNOW) because i hate doctors but i was down that surgery quicker than you can say wonderbra and the lump turned out to be normal breast tissue cysts which can occure during menstruation and last for a few weeks after.

Go to your gp and have your mind put at rest immediately never ever delay. My friend had breast cancer and it is not something any woman should take for granted.

You are going to be fine and well done for doing your own examination many women refuse to out of fear.

I have had five children and i know what the worries of being naked and feeling vilnerable are but it is worth it for peace of mind.

I have had a abnormal pap. It is graded on a scale. I was just over the zero. I had requested a specialist right away as some doctors suggest an abnormal test to be done in 6 months if the number is low. Low numbers is displasia. It is checked to see how deep it is by a biospy and then laser surgery is done. It is not painful but you bleed for about a month afterwards. It is our thoughts that are the scariest. If all cancers were rid of that easy life would be grand.
I really suggest you go. If you go and fine it irregular that is a good things as it means we will be better off. If you wait too long it could lead to big problems.

The lump, the doctor may have you to wait till after you period because you can experience bumps and uncomfortable breasts during that time.
Again early detection is best - still scary but the end result is better!

Take good care of yourself for those you love and for the love of yourself.

Hope to read your post soon saying all is well and I went for my Pap!!
God bless,

Hi Emma -
I had a painful lump that I had to get a mammogram and then had to have a ultrasound done too. Turned out to be fluid built up between fat and the bottom muscle. Better to go in and get checked out then to regret not getting it looked at later on.
As far as the pap - all I can say is that every woman absolutely dreads having to have that done. Can every woman in the world just give a resounding EWWWWWWWWWWWW - lol
But just remember with all the 'bits' the doc sees everyday - I'm sure that yours isn't going to shock him. You know the saying 'you've seen one, you've seen them all'. Well THAT doc sure has to have seen several and not much would ever suprise him :)
Just think of it this way - Go in and get checked out and then you will have 2 less things to worry about.
Let us know how it goes - k?

Hi sweet, it really is important that you go for your smear and get your breast checked out just to be on the safe side, without trying to scare you, my nan avoided smears and when she finally went it was too late she was riddled with cancer of the womb and ovaries. Please, please do go, she was just 55 years old!!.

I'm sure everything will be fine, you must be brave for you and your family.

Take care,

ok rational thinking is slowly taking its grip.the lump doesnt bother me too much-im always checking and it only showed up the day i came on. im giving it a week and if its still there by monday im going to the docs. the smear test just makes me feel sick and im going to try and talk myself into it. its quite funny as ive exposed myself whilst giving birth 4 times yet this seems huge somehow.
thanks for your support-im trying to take it onboard and listen to the fab advice.

i also had a lump a few years ago, i went and all it is was thickening of the tissue due to hormones, you said you were on your period, thats prob it, but go and get it checked out anyway, i was so glad i went they are lovely with you, and so understanding. as for your smear test i also had to go down to colposcopy clinic at local hospital cos of abnormal smear results, but same thing again, it was nothing to worry about, it all came back to normal on its own, plz go for smear-2 mins of uncomfortable/( well its not even that)- for a lifetime of putting your mind at ease and knowing you r ok.

I had a similar thing a few years ago and it turned out to be a blocked duct. Go to the doctors just to put your mind at rest. I am too scared not to go for smears even though they are not pleasant but I would rather go and get the results than not and go and worry about 'what if'.
