Small red blood cells??

Hi

I have been posting recently about persistent swollen lymph nodes in my neck, well yesterday I had a blood test and today had a phone call from the doctor as my blood test shows I have small red blood cells. Everything else is fine but the red blood cells he said its not the number of blood cells it's their appearance that are small anyone heard of this?

I was told a week ago that I had small red blood cells but my heamoglobin was fine. (See my recent threads). From my previous googling, it may indicate thalassemia but that very much depends on your ethnicity. Other than that I think that some people just have small red blood cells.

What did he say could cause it and does he want to do anything about it?

I have large red blood cells so I am the opposite

Well I have got to have another blood test but he said no hurry. I have never had this before convinced myself my WBC would be the problem glad it isn't. He mentioned thalasimia and asked if I had Mediterranean blood in me I am a quarter Cypriot but this is not something any other family member has had
