I have just started on citalopram, about 6 days into it now, on 10mg. So far the only thing i have noticed is its playing havoc with my digestive system. I know its a side effect so im not worried as such but how can i stop this constipation and trapped wind? This is what the main issue is, it feels like somebody is twisting my guts, the cramps are not pleasant. I have plenty of fibre in my diet but it doesn't help since i started the cit.
Is it ok to try over the counter remedies? There isn't anything i shouldn't take is there?

Hi

I found that many of the initial side effects either went or reduced during the first month.

Pepermint oil is meant to be good for helping with IBS, cramps etc. When you have your next meeting with your GP let them know if it is still a problem and they will be able to direct you to suitable fixes.

I always find drinking lots of water helps. Peppermint tea might also help.
