I have been awake since 3 with panic and anxiety, however about 1.5 hrs ago, I have been scratching my skin off! Feel like I want to cut all my skin off, my hair and feel like totally loosing it!

I have taken a diazepam to calm me down but not really working, I am absolutely terrified, what's going on, it feels like an allergic reaction to something

Please reply x

Hi Jackie, are you having a panic attack & your getting all hot and it's causing the itching,do u think or, are you panicking because you believe you have had an allergic reaction to something?

Have you had something or been in contact with something/one which could have caused this?

My anxiety has been back over last few days, I had an abcess on my tooth and have taken amoxicillin over last 2 days from dentist, don't feel hot but it feels like some kind of withdrawal

This could be an allergic reaction from the penicillin. I used to be able to have if fine as a child but now if I have it, it makes me very sick! X

Hi

Back from A&E they changed my antibiotics, I burst in tears in the room and the Doctor said "what's the matter with you" what can they do? I am on Meds and have diazepam if needed, guess I just have to ride it out?

Out for a long walk with Husband and dogs, dreading going home as I feel scared to go to bed, cook cause I can't eat:)

Hi Jackie

Try to stay calm.

Is there anything visible on your skin ie a rash, spots (apart from redness where you've been scratching)?

I work as a secretary in a Dermatology department for a specialist regarding skin problems.

There are soooo many problems that cause us to itch, so don't just disregard it.

As it the weekend and doctors are closed, I'd advise that you walk into a chemist and speak to the pharmacist on duty. These people do a lot of simple treatments/prescribe medications for the more common problems so you don't have to go to doctors.

This person may give you something for the anxiety (though do perhaps take what medication you are on with you as they'll need to know that) and also something for the itching. If you need to visit your GP on Monday following this first step, you could do and he may be able to help you. If he can't, he may refer you urgently to your local hospital/Dermatology department.

There are people that can help you Jackie, so do try not to worry - be patient though. xx

Hi Jackie

Just caugt up with this, I think it is the antibiotics and that is why you were feeling so bad yesterday morning with your tummy, hopefully now they have changed them the symptons will ease, I cannot take anything penicillin based and they can cause an itichy rash, notsobubbly is right if you go to chemist they can probably give you something for the itching, a simple anti-histamine may ease it for you.

Try not to worry

Hi Guys

Thanks for replies and advice. I have no rashes apart from skin removed with my nails, think it is symptoms of my anxiety does anybody else suffer like this?
