Hello Bexy. I can strongly relate to how you feel as breast lumps are a serious subjcect and all of us ladies are going to feel strongly about the subject. Since I'm ok about looking this up, I've had a look for you. I'm not a doctor of course and I'm only conveying information in an article I have read, but I thought some plain, straight forward facts might put your mind at rest.
Everything I read sounds exactly like what your doctor said. The article described a 'breast mouse' as a completely benign ( non-cancerous ) form of breast lump that can be moved around within the breast tissue - hence the name. I must admit I've not heard it called that but the name is quite a clever description really.
Apparently the proper 'technical' name is "fibroadenoma" - so called because they form from both glandular & fibrous tissue. The article said they are so common, especially in young women, many breast experts regard them as just a variation in the normal development of the breast.
Most importantly - and the good news is that what I read suggests it getting smaller supports the diagnosis given to you by your GP.
Having said all of that, it is a sensitive subject. My partner had a lump checked several years ago and it was all ok. Of course at the time it was stressful for her just as it would be for any lady. My partner was advised to take a high dose of Evening Primrose oil (starflower oil is another alternative and this is what I take). They suggested this to my partner because her lump was related to her cycle. The GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid) in these products is the key ingredient and may relieve relieve the pain (if you are experiencing any). They also recommend always wearing a well-fitting, supportive bra.
Bexy, I do appreciate why its hard to trust your GP. Ultimately, if you wanted to see specialist for a proper assessment & reassurance I would expect that is possible. Its finding a happy medium really because for them to check it, you would be poked and prodded around. This might not be a very comfortable experience for you but at the end of it they will then be able to confirm that it is a fibroadenoma & that it can be safely left alone. More good news is that if it is confirmed as one of those the article said that 30 per cent get smaller and disappear with time. I hope you have a nice weeknd & maybe we can speak again soon.

I had one of these when I was in my mid 30's and it disappeared. They are completely harmless x

My wife had one. Completely harmless and tend to just go away on their own. Hers went away after a couple of years.

I had one! My GP reassured me it was benign and a further exam confirmed it.

HI

MY name is Phume and im 21 this year and I just found a breast lump the day before and yesterday I went to see my DR he asked if any of my family members had breasted cancer and I said no but I lost my dad of lung cancer and we also have a history of stomach and thyroid cancer. so the DR said I should go get a mammogram but they told me I was to young for it so they just did an ultrasound to find out that I have breast mouse (fibroadenoma). do you think I should get a Second Opinion! if not will this "breast mouse" go away by its self????????

Ive got two, in the same breast! I've been back a few times wondering the same thing, should I be referred. Each time my GP has told me she's not worried. I've sort of just accepted that now. I do believe if the doctor, yours or mine, were even slightly unsure, they would refer us.
Try just to forget it's there. I know it's easier said than done, but trust your doctor. They know what they're looking for with lumps and bumps X

I've got a breast mouse. It comes and goes with my cycle. It's what's there but gets bigger just after ovulation and goes down after my period. Oil of evening primrose I was recommended for mine but it never really helped much. Mine gets painful sometimes. It's actually gotten a bit better these past couple of months. But I can understand why you're worried. I was worried.

I've never heard of this... had to look it up. I'm sure my fiance' has never heard of this either.... sounds to me like a good excuse to cop a feel ;)

"Honey.... what are you doing?"
"Lookin' for breast mice sweetie ;)"

Positive thoughts and coochi coochi!

Fishman.... That is very funny.

If it's any help.... My partner has a lump, it comes and goes with her cycle. Not every month but it does recur. How painful, sensitive or obvious it is also variable. It is hard to accept a doctors opinion when many factors are involved but I do agree that if they were at all unsure they would refer you.
