I am hoping people can all write on this thread, and use it as a way of finding certain ways of coping with a worry they have.

I am an awful worrier, I am always worried about one thing or an other. It is effecting my happiness, my personality and my uni work.
I worry for days, thinking of the worse that could happen and trying to think of ways I could resolve my worry.

For me, Talking to people helps, but only for a short about of time.
I would often ask them multiple times and keep bringing up the worry, then they feel I am being silly and just over worring.

When you are anxious and worried about something How do you free your mind from it?

If I have a worry, I switch to something that will help me move forward.

It helps to be aware that you are worrying, then you can move to
another thought.

If you didn't have the worry what would you be thinking or doing?
When you start thinking of something that leads to happiness,
then your worry loses its power.

Hope this helps.

There are a couple of things I've found helpful. One is to divide a piece of paper in 2 columns, and on the left hand side, write what you're worried about (the irrational thought), and on the right hand side, write a more rational thought in response.

Using a Worry Diary can also be helpful. There is one in this PDF file, along with instructions on how to fill it in: http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/docs/ACF1093.pdf It's all part of a CBT course on anxiety, available here: http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/infopax.cfm?Info_ID=46

I find these methods help me to put a worry or negative thought into pespective.
