For years to cope on bus journeys and to drown out arguing at home I have used earphones .
I am now scared I have damaged my ears by doing so...They feel funny... And scared I,, get the constant buzzing in ears people say u can get after damaging them.
I've cut down recently to using them about twice a week .
I work in a very noisy atmosphere aswell so am a bit panicky.
If its not one thing it's something else!
Could of proberly clocked up 5 hours use a day using them alone!
Now I have one itchy ear..
If I quit all together today can I guarantee I will not get the constant buzzing?
I've been really good the last couple of weeks. Only using them occasionally.

At school bus is was a coping device.
I couldn't do it without

I can even hear a buzzing now lol.
Is it because I'm worrying over it??
I've probably done a lot of damage to my ears.
I could do five hours a day easily for at least Seven years on a loud volume !!

I will not google it!
I keep typing it in and stopping before I can search it .
These last few weeks have barely used them except today and a bit last night and once a few days ago...

Hi

I recommend you see your GP who will check them out and may even refer you to an ENT doctor/specialist.
When I was worried about my ears this is what my GP did for me - it was such a relief & I wished I'd gone sooner.

Could do yes.
Did you use earphones a lot.
I may have to throw them in the bin.. I've been good but I needed them for my bus journey today I got really anxious and it calmed me down a lot

Hello again

I agree with dlr08. Do not google - it will only make your fear worse. Get some info RELEVANT to you by seeing GP. They can give you advise about using earphones - etc & you would feel reassured. I think some opticians offer hearing tests (there may be a charge) if you are not keen going to docs.

Thanks guys.
May pop to see if my optician does hearing tests.
I used them for walking today. So ashamed I just couldn't stand to listen to the my breath as I fear a heart attack so wanted to block the noise out!!!
I'm tempted to throw my earphones away but that stop so many panic attacks :(

If I stop as of now.. When I'm having no issues will I not encounter any hearing issues?
Will stopping now prevent any tinutis I may get if I carry on?

Hi there Emma,

I've recently developed this obsession with collecting earphones (especially the ones fro Sony!).

I love music and I love taking my Walkman with me anywhere I go just to accompany me.

I do sometimes get this weird pressure in my ears, like a wall of thin air is blocking the entrance. I think this is because one of my frequently used earphones is an earplug type and it causes air to be sucked inside, thus the weird feeling.

Just make sure that when you use your MP3, the volume is not set too loud. Check your earphones if they are the main culprit as well.

Hi Emma, I've had ringing/buzzing in ear since christmas and before now, which I think is either bought on by stress OR sinus, so if you're not having other symptoms i.e headache, ear pressure then I can only guess yours has been bought on by stress.
I highly doubt it can get damaged with earphones unless you had the volume extremely high.
Normally when they say loud noise it's something like a mutliple gun shots or the DJ's at a club.
