Why did you have 5 chocolate bars?

If you are diabetic you need to take it seriously and take the drugs and take the advice they give you or you put yourself in serious danger!

Goodness me.....5 chocolate bars and you're diabetic:ohmy:

As Nicola has said you really must start taking your diabetes much more seriously.

I'm diabetes 2 as well, and I know that my blood sugar would have been through the roof after 5 chocolate bars:ohmy:

I think you really need to study diabetes properly, you are setting yourself up for some possibly really serious medical conditions if you don't get your blood sugar properly under control :)

I'm not having a go at you, I'm just really concerned about you :)

It might have been better if you had stayed in the ward because I think the diabetes specialist nurses would have got you well educated about how to live and deal with diabetes.

This really is nothing to play with, diabetes is fine and you will have no problems if you take your medication regularly and watch your diet and weight. You may not be getting any bad effects now, but you are going to be slowly damaging your body and putting yourself at unnecessary risk which is something that you're going to really regret.

I advise you to make an appointment at your diabetic clinic at your doctors and get them to help and guide you on what you need to be doing, I say this for the sake of your health :)

With regards to medication - patient compliance for taking medication that they are prescribed for a reason, is only around 50-60%. Don't be the daft 40-50% of patients who don't take their medication.

Please take your diabetes seriously - you have been given medication for a reason, and that medication is specifically given to you for therapeutic means. Having this medication, gives you a second chance in keeping your quality of life. Yeah, so you can't or, well, shouldn't eat a load of sugar - but at the end of the day - humans were never designed to consume alot of sugar.

It might be wise for you to see if you can get a nutritionist to help plan out a diet for you which isn't high in sugar. Ditching the sugar will be difficult, but keep in mind, diabetes isn't something to mess around with. Take the medication, eat healthy from now on and you won't run into problems like this again.

As of now I am stopping eating sugar I am addicted just like alcohol or fags. I think reading about diabetic ketaacidosis has made me think ive got it such as thirst and nausea i can get that through anxiety I have learned a hard lesson and I am going to get this under control now. I hope I will make it through the next few days. I am not ready to go yet

You will get through the next few days, think of this as another chance to make things right. Sugar is highly addictive and should be avoided - easier said than done of course! But you can do it, there's no reason why you can't. It's just sugar, nothing nearly as important as blood or anything which keeps us living.

Try not to read up too much on other aspects of conditions as you'll only send yourself into panic mode.

You will be ok. Everything will be ok.

Indeed I am! I'm in Dundee. On here, it seems like a small world, bumping into people who live only a stones throw away, haha.

Gordie, please dont get thinking that you wont make it through the next few days, I can promise you faithfully that panic attack or no panic attack, IF the doctor thought you needed to be hospitalised then they would have done. Yes the doctor reccommended it, but they did allow you home when you began to get anxious, if it was life threatening they would not have allowed you to walk out...that is a promise. Look at this more of a wake up call, its a lesson learned, all be it a very hard one. Drink plenty of water and stay away from the sugar. (((hugs)))
