I hate this, I've been feeling tired on and off all day and yet when it's sleepy time, nothing doing. Has been happening since I had to move house, I was sleeping so well in my old place even though the bed was rubbish. Now nicer bed, no sleep. Can't switch my brain off and the frustration of lying in bed whilst your mind goes round and round and round.

The boredom is just excruciating. I shall try to sleep again soon, anyone got any tips, I'll try anything, lavender has sometimes worked just not tonight.

I'm going through an insomnia patch at the moment. I just can't turn my brain off!

I'm getting up making toast and cups of tea.

It's a phase of adjustment and it will come right.

thx Ray, sorry to hear that you are going through it too, but it is nice to know one isn't the only one, it tends to feel like it at 4am.

Hope yours comes good too. I found this french lavender cream at Tesco's it's only about £3, I put it on my face at night and it's pretty decent normally except when my brain goes into complete overdrive.

Try to avoid caffeine, don't lie in bed if you aren't going to sleep! You will only end up stressing about the fact and the more you stress the more you can't! Vicious circle!! Get up read or do something until you feel tired and then go back to bed and try again! Have quite a lot of experience with that one! Lavender is good! Remember it takes a while to get used to a new environment and a new bed, these things take time and your sleep patterns will setle down eventually

Hugs to you

Hi

I have been having sleeping problems since i started on Citalopram last year.

I am currently having 3-4 hours every night. I always feel tired about 5pm and will often drop off whilst watching tv.

Come bed time im wide awake again.

Doctor has told me once im off the tablets my sleep should go back to normal.

Hi Redbaron,

Ive had bouts of insomnia on and off for the last few years, its horrible isn’t it when you just want to turn off and get some sleep and your mind goes into overdrive and you just cant switch your thoughts/brain off.

What I find helps me is a couple of drops of lavender on my pillow while doing my relaxation tape and then reading a boring book, I really try and focus on the book and eventually I drop off. Also I find when im in a good routine my sleep patterns are better, I suppose because my body knows when its time to switch off.

Do you actually have any relaxation tapes, i do find they help personnally.

Maybe and hopefully once you have settled into your new place things will improve!

Good luck and I wish you sleepy full nights!!

Take care xx
