Can anxiety & stress make you lose weight? quite a lot of friends & family have said that I have lost a lot of weight recently.

I was wondering if Anxiety was the cause of it

Thanks all xxx

Yes, absolutely. It uses a lot of calories to be stressed & anxious! Our bodies use around 1600 calories on average just laying down, doing nothing except existing. I lost a stone in weight at the worst of my anxiety in the summer. I'm only just now putting it back on.

Most definitely. I lost nearly 3 stone in around 8 weeks due to anxiety. If you are worried, make sure your doc runs some tests on you just to rule out any underlying cause. I had lots of tests and all came back clear. It was definitely due to anxiety but it seems to have stabalised now.

Yes I agree too, stress can burn off a lot of weight and often in periods of stress we don't eat very well either. Kittikat's advice is spot on here, if you're unsure then see your GP to have some basic checks done. For example, if you are not eating less or exercising more, stress could be doing it but worth getting it looked into?

Thanks :) I have been eating less in the daytime so I guess that could be the reason why. I will mention it to my GP next week xxx
