Hi there,

I work as a researcher for the BBC and we are currently in production with a programme called “Panic Room”, which is aimed to help people overcome extreme phobias and anxieties that can severely hinder their daily lives. We have enlisted experts who specialise in cognitive, thought and behavioural therapies in order to help our participants to overcome their fears so they can attempt to live a normal life. After therapy, participants will have to endure what is known as the “Panic Room” which aims to test these treatments. We will follow each participant as they undergo their treatment and the challenge to conquer their fear.

We are looking for people to take part in this brand new exciting show and were wondering if you may be able to help us. I have posted on your forum before and we received great response, however I cannot seem to gain access to the forums this time so I was wondering whether you guys would be able to put some information about the show on your site for us. I have attached the press release and blogging paragraph for you to have a look at. We really appreciate your help and through the show we hope to be able to inform and further educate the viewing public about the frequency and severity of phobias and how they can be overcome. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information.

Many Thanks

Hi

I think they have everyone now. I applied they came and filmed us for 1 1/2 hours and the house, then a week later told me i wasnt extrem enough to go on the program. They said they had found more extreme cases than myself people who have not tried to overcome there issues. so i was very disappointed, but others obviously need it more than me. Good luck to them all i hope it works for them.

Take care

Perhaps there are some crossed wires somewhere here. I can't see them lying to you as such.

Keep an eye on the posts in the forum as we usually have a few coming along and you may want to try for another one.

People will forget what you said
People will forget what you did
But people will never forget how you made them feel

I sent them an email a week or so ago complaining that i thought it was s little unprofessional not to get back to me and say whether it was a yes or a no, although i'm certainly not getting my hopes up!
...and then, i get that phonecall apologising because it was all "still up in the air" and the "selection process is taking a lot longer due to the amount of candidates".

Either that, or I am the one thats been lied to?
Who the heck knows?

hi
i think they were kind of looking for single phobias- if that kind of makes sense, where as i suffer from a mass of phobia's wrapped up in obsessive compulsive disorder. i have had it for 30 years-since i was 6 , and i'm real bad with it at the moment cause i spend about 19 hours a day checking stuff- so they kind of didn't know where to start with me, and said i was too severe.[xx(]
what i think they said they were gonna do, was place the people they have chosen into a house where they will meet the experts there to gently expose them to their feared things...then after some graded gentle exposure and talking to the therapists for a while, the person was then entered into the panoic room where they meet their fear head on .
good luck anyway...if anyone gets on it xxx

Bump^

Was this the programme that a woman from this forum took part in and ended up being cured of agoraphobia?. Sorry can't remember her name all i remember is she had blonde hair and was in her 20's. The reason i ask is because maybe someone has the contact information of the doctor who cured her?.

Cheers.
