so i finally went to my primary dr today to get this pain in my left side checked out...i have been having it for about 2 months..she wanted to do an EKG and when they got me all hooked up and turned the machine on, figured it would only take a few seconds to print out the page..well, lucky me, the machine stopped working and of course the first thing i thought was that my heart caused the machine to malfunction...she then gave me a paper to go to my local hospital for a routine chest x-ray and another EKG...i get there and at this point my heart rate is through the roof..they did my chest x-ray and the when i went to get the EKG, the guy asked if i was nervous..haha...luckily i know most of the staff at the local hospital so i was able to have them read me the results so i didn't have to wait until the dr called me back tomorrow...when i talked to the ER dr about the EKG results, he assured me it wasn't a heart attack and he also looked at the chest xray and said it look good too, no enlargement or anything that would concern him..his only concern was my heart rate..it was 115..i tried to tell him that i am a naturally nervous person and that it is usually up...he wants me to follow up with my primary dr and said i should consider propranolol...any advice from any of you that have had a similar issue or propranolol users

oh, i forgot to say that now i feel so much anxiety and worry that i can't get my heart to slow down which is making me have more anxiety and casuing my heart to race more...such a vicious cycle

Aniexty can often get your heart racing I have had it and been on propananol. my Aniexty is coming under control now and I've been changed to other meds. But propananol is a very effective Beta blocker which does slow the heart rate and helps with many physical symptoms of stress and Aniexty. If it's available to you ask for the slow release version. It is much more effective the standard can work in waves and wears off. side effects are rare. it's a really standard Aniexty treatment in the UK and first choice for many doctors. I wouldn't worry at all about trying it Han x x

i actually started taking it last year but stopped after only a few days because i thought it was giving me headaches but the headaches were coming from the problems that resulted in me having to have brain surgery 2 months ago....so now i'm ready to try it again because i can't stand this racing heart...i had even taken an ativan and it didn't help much and once it wore off, the racing came back

Why did you have brain surgery? if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks.

the doctors told me for a year and a half that i had sinus and allergy problems that were causing my ear to feel clogged and drainage back by throat..after i went to the ENT specialist, he thought it was a swollen eustachian tube from allergies and put a tube in my ear (the kind they give kids)..well after three days of constant draining coming out of my ear, i went back and he sent me for a CT scan and a test of the fluid..the CT scan showed a tear in the sack that surrounds the brain and the fluid tested positive for brain fluid...so needless to say, i leaked brain fluid for a year and a half...it was caused by intra cranial pressure

Would that be seen in a routine ct brain scan? Ive had a headache for 8 days they did an urgent ct scan yesterday and said it was ok.now im worried even more, like theres an aneurysm ready to burst and the ct (didnt use dye) has missed it. Am so so low. X

No expert but feel sure this would have been seen on a CT scan, with or without the contrast dye.
