HI EVERYONE. I HAVE SUFFERED FROM ANXIETY FOR OVER 2 YEARS. I DID SEEM TO GET BETTER, UNTIL 7 MONTHS AGO, WHEN I STOPPED SMOKING. ALL THE SYMPTOMS HAVE CAME BACK AGAIN. TODAY I FEEL OKAY. BUT TOMORROW COULD BE A BAD DAY.
hi lisa
giving up smoking is a good thing to do but it does seem to make anxiety worse, i know members of my support group smoke and say when they try to give up they have more panic attacks. but keep going it does get better

thanks for that. alot of people say it takes time. some days i have wanted to light a cigarette up, but im not letting it beat me.i feel okay today, but tomorrow could be a different day. my partner doesnt understand what it feels like, he says its all in the head. i just wish he knew.
well done on the giving up smoking.
I only smoke when drunk and when stressfull anxiety ridden situations arise. trying to let go of the crutch that i have seemd to put on to fags and relaxation....nightmare.
so well done to you x

HI KAREN. THANKS FOR THAT. IVE BEEN HAVING REALLY BAD PANIC ATTACKS LATELY. THEY HAVE CAME ON SUDDENLY WHEN I HAVE GONE TO BED. MY WHOLE BODY WAS SHAKING REALLY BAD, AND THATS WHEN I STARTED LOOKING ON THE INTERNET. I HAVE SUFFERED FROM BAD SINUSES SINCE I STOPPED SMOKING, SO THAT MAKES ME FEEL REALLY LOW WHEN I WAKE UP ON A MORNING. HOPEFULLY WHEN I FINISH THESE COURSE OF ANTI-BIOTICS, THE DOCTOR IS GONNA REFER ME TO A SPECIALIST, SO ONCE THE SINUS PROBLEMS GO, I MIGHT FEEL BETTER IN MYSELF. ITS TRUE TO SAY, THAT I HAVE BEEN MORE UNHEALTHY SINCE I STOPPED SMOKING.

Hi Lisa
welcome to the forum. the giving up smoking is a good thing, but like many things that are good for us it isn't easy, however the implications for you health by you having got away from the fags are already worth you having done it.
I gave up 2 years ago and it can still be hard but the frequency lessens. It's funny that we feel the cigs help us relax when actually nicotine is a stimulant, so it's the emotional crutch that we need more than anything else.
Keep at it, it really does get better, and be proud of what you've done so far it's hard, takes enormous willpower to do it. Sort yourself out little milestones and treat yourself to something nice you deserve it.
I hope you find peace here.
