Paroxetine to Venlafaxine

Have been prescribed venlafaxine 150mg a day in two 75mg doses.I'm to reduce the paroxetine from 60mg to 20mg and keep it at 20mg for two weeks before stopping it.At the same time,the venlafaxine will be upped after 2 weeks to 300mg.

Has anyone else gone from paroxetine to venlafaxine?

Hi - I know this is an old thread but did this work for you? - I may have to come off Paroxetine after 18 years and go onto Ven which is quite daunting x

Hi Xtrastrongbint, the transition was fairly smooth from what i remember. Venlafaxine has been a good anti-dep for me. I'm sure I'd have gone under by now without it.

18 years is a long time but as long as you taper it off you should be fine :)

I tried going from paroxetine to venlafaxine, then stopped the venlafaxine after 2 weeks. I'm having a hard time with withdrawal, particularly sleep & anxiety so i'm thinking of going back to paroxetine as I feel that is causing the withdrawal issues. Is venlafaxine good for anxiety though?
