I have felt sick 24/7, debilitating fatigue, loose bowels, night sweats, and generally feel awful. I have been on fluoxetine for 4 weeks today and they are doing nothing, I am still crying uncontrollably every day. From the moment I get up I can't wait to go back to bed because I am so tired. I am forcing myself to eat and it's all rubbish food but I am still losing weight.
My bloods showed raised liver enzymes and I get a scan on Friday and I am convinced something is going on somewhere despite all my other bloods are ok. I just want sorted because I feel like I can't go on feeling this way, everyday is a struggle.
I have 2 children to look after on my own when my partners at work and I am struggling to cope. I literally feel like I am dying and it's going to be too late.
I have had ha in the past but never to this extent, I feel like the girl who cried wolf and no one believes how Ill I am this time because of anxiety in the past.

Hi Zippy

Sorry you are not feeling any better. This must be a real worry for you and it must seem like Friday is a long way off. Sorry I can't offer any real comfort to you other than you should try and concentrate on the fact that all your other bloods were ok. I've seen other posts on this site where some abnormalities in liver function were diagnosed which all turned out to be ok following a scan.

Try to be positive. I know this is hard. Can anyone help you with the kids?

I hope you get this resolved soon. I will be thinking about you.

Thanks darbysa.
I keep thinking and everyone else keeps saying all my other bloods are ok and something else would be amiss like red or white blood cells if something serious was going on but when you feel so ill it's hard to believe.
I know they can be raised with various things that aren't serious but you know what HA is like and especially when you feel ill.

Hi Zippy, I totally get what you're saying about the crying wolf thing... I think that as well. Regarding the liver enzymes. i'm not sure which ones of yours are raised but I had raised billirubin 6 months ago when I had LFT's. a repeat one showed that that is normal for me. if you've been n any new meds that might affect it as well.

Sometimes when I've had anxiety and literally thought I was at death's door I've felt exhausted...its all the worry and I think my body plays along with what my mind is telling me is wrong.

I hope you feel better soon.

Big hugs. Friday will be here soon. Just try and keep busy. I know you'll still be worried about the results but you have to find out what it is

Hi Zippy

We've "spoken" in the past. I'm really sorry you are feeling this way. I have just come off of my antidepressants because we want to try for another baby and I can feel myself slipping back into my old ways. What I will say is that my anti d's took about 6 weeks to kick in, I thought they were never going to work.

Also just wanted to share something my Dr told me (shes great and I really trust her) she said that blood tests are the first thing drs do to see whats going on because the blood can tell them so so much, so if your bloods came back clear that's great news. I know that's hard for you to believe right now.
Your scan on Fri will be fine.

Hope I've managed to help maybe a little bit

I am worrying because my liver bloods weren't ok.

Hi Zippy, have you ever been tested for an h pylori infection in your stomach? You're having so much trouble with your digestion, I wonder if they've checked for it? It's way more common than you'd think, and relatively easy to cure with antibiotics. Might be worth looking into?

I don't want to give you something else to worry about by any means, but it's something to consider and it's an easily managed problem if you have it :)

It's also good to remember that stress and anxiety can create major disruption to our digestive systems, to our whole bodies really. It's worth thinking about learning to manage your anxiety so that it doesn't make things worse for you.

Oh and I also meant to say, I too had bloods that showed raised liver enzymes late last year! But on the next blood test they had returned to normal. It seems that this is a fairly average experience and I hope it will turn out the same for you x

I got tested for the h pylori about 3 years ago after having an endoscopy but it was negative. They only found mild gastritis and I have been taking omerazapole since.
My liver enzymes have been raised before but my gp said not to worry and they went back to normal the next time but this gp has done further in depth bloods for hepatitis etc and sending me for a scan which doesn't help someone with HA and already feeling unwell.

Sorry I don't know how I missed this when reading

Still, levels in bloods can go up and down for various reasons, my hubbie had raised levels in his blood a few months back - something to do with the pancreas but there was no explanation for it and after a few months of regular bloods they returned to normal.

Sorry again for misreading your previous post.

Thanks mogwog. All my other bloods he done were ok. He mentioned it could be gallstone or fatty liver, I have got a gallstone that I have had for years but never have any pain with it, I can't see it being that. Like you say they may not find anything or the cause because it's been high before.

No worries - it could be any of those things, actually now you mention gallstones - my friend a few years back had one that wasn't bothering her and she had routine bloods done, I think looking for something else and had high liver enzymes and it was caused by that stone - she opted to have her gallbladder out. I think our brains are just trained to fear the worst with everything and I find its not helped by the internet or magazines cause there's always stories about people who are really ill etc.

We're all here when you need to talk.xxxxxxxx

I know it's mr google that does it for me, I have diagnosed myself with every cancer going because of google. Thats what's got me in this state again, I got vertigo and headaches in November for a month and google told me I had brain tumour, I have nausea, fatigue, loose bowels and google is telling me liver or stomac cancer now. So Friday will rule liver out and the following Friday a brain ct scan will rule brain tumour out. No doubt I will still think I am dying and something is being missed and move onto stomach or bowel. It's a nightmare.

Hey i recently was feeling exactly like you do and had checks was sure i would have a serious problem my Blood tests showed very high liver enzymes 120 and my Liver showed Fatty infiltration i also had high chelesterol since then i have been eating really well lost some weight and bit by bit starting to feel alot better.

Contary to alot of information on the internet fatty liver can make you feel sick and alot more it also can ache like a really dull ache. It all led on to making my anxiety alot worse which caused dizziness etc. If this does turn out to be the problem its easily managed and turned around just change ur diet stop worrying and you will see a dramatic change. i have to return in 4 months time but im sure it will be a big change on scan and tests

Yeah i did feel really sick i also had loose bowels when eating certain types of food. Fatigue is really just down to worry it has a horrible effect on your brain that just wears you down.

Try going gluten and dairy free, that fixed my liver enzymes and other issues, you should notice improvement in a couple of weeks...

Did you get tested for blood in the stool? It looks like a GI disorder they usually affect the liver enzymes.

If you're having digestion problems, do you ever get upper right abdominal pain?
I too had bloods done and my liver enzymes are high.
I had my gallbladder removed 5 days before I had the blood test. So I'm hoping its all to do with that as I was so sick for over a year and took 10 months to find out it was gb.
It could be all the fatty foods, are you taking iburofen at all?
My dr and surgeon weren't too bothered by my elevated levels, my liver was normal by scan 2 weeks earlier. I'm having a repeat blood test soon. Some ppls levels are just higher then others sometimes too, sometimes can be fatty liver. Anything over the top you'd be yellow, my dr said so anyway.
Just try to stay calm and remember there is someone else (me) with the exact same issue as you :) good luck

Oh I not only had stones but I had acute cholycystitis, I had over 80 attacks! Lost so much weight and was tiny before it all started.
So I had a stone blocking the duct and also mobile ones and boy oh boy did it make my anxiety out of control while waiting for surgery but I was fine ;)
You'd know if it was blocked tho, the pain is worse then child birth and I had 3 natural drug free! Attacks every week sometimes everynight.
If your gallbladder isn't working properly, it could be putting strain on the liver, that was the only thing thy could find wrong with me ( elevated liver bloods) but never thought gallstones because I'm thin. I had the cam down my throat and also had mild gastritis so it was pinned to that but I'm glad I pushed for the scan. I hope your scan brings you answers :)

Gallstones will most definitely alter your liver results! I've had them and my bloods were all over the place! No more gallbladder no more worries. Will they look at your gallbladder while they're doing the liver, I suppose so beings right next door, and you may have more stones.

---------- Post added at 14:39 ---------- Previous post was at 14:38 ----------

And if your eating a lot of bad food with a disfunctioning gallbladder then your liver had to work harder I would imagine.

Hello Zippy, this is my first post so please go easy on me.
I too have unexplained elevated Liver Enzymes. I had my gallbladder removed due to gallstones but my Liver Enzymes remain elevated. My doctor has refered me to a specialist who says there is nothing to worry about.
I have battled with unexplained anxiety/depression and my doctor has put me on antidepressants. I also have high cholesterol and take medication for this.
I am still not totally convinced that what is going on is normal. I honestly believe that if I can get to the bottom of why my Liver Enzymes are elevated, that I will be able to correct my cholesterol and mood.
For the last 6 months I have been listening to my body. Here is what I have gathered. My stomach feels sick most of the time. It feels like a burning sensation when I haven't eaten for a while. I have had reflux in the middle of the night that makes it hard to go back to sleep. If I drink coffee or alcohol it enhances the sickening feeling. When I do drink plenty of water I can feel it gurgling away in my stomach and I belch regularly. More like diarrhea from the other end.
So what is next. I have just discovered H Pylori can cause these symptoms and am scheduled do a Breathe Test at 8am tomorrow morning.
I know how frustrating it is to not know why your Liver Enzymes are elevated and to have a clear diagnosis. I know I will continue to search for answers as should you.
Here's to better health and wellbeing.
