Hi everyone 40 year old guy here, I've been suffering with panic disorder on and off for about 8 years now (think my nervous system might have been weakened by smoking too much cannabis when I was younger) When it's bad I can't travel on public transport, go to the supermarket, etc In fact it's pretty damn difficult just to leave the house. It's been particularly bad this last 6 months as my Dad has been very ill and I look after my 2 year old son full time - so generally I'm stressed all the time.

I've done numerous things to help my situation - CBT, counciling, yoga, exercise, no alcohol/smoking/caffeine, healthy eating and they all help to a degree but not fully.

I've tried Beta-blockers and antidepressants but had very bad effects so am generally very wary of medication.

I recently went to a top specialist in Harley St who diagnosed me with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Panic Attacks (it's nice to get a definitive diagnosis, most GPs don't have a clue) and he prescribed me Pregabalin, which I haven't started taking yet.

Actually I've been doing a self administered course of Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) for the past 2 weeks with significantly positive results in both my physiology and my mental outlook. So I'm hoping another 2 weeks will get me to the point where yoga, exercise and positive thinking will maintain me at normal levels again.

I know there's not much about CES on this forum (which I'm kind of surprised about) but I've done quite a bit of research and if anyone wants to PM me about it I'd be happy to chat. I will post more about my CES experience separately.

take care,

RP

Hi RP.
I have not heard of CES but it sounds interesting and I would be interesting in hearing how your progress with it. I am also having difficulty with going out at the moment and have just started on Beta Blockers.
