What can make the flashing in my eyes stop?

I have seeing flashes of light (only in the dark) when I either move my head left and right or eyes left and right,
It has been happening for a number of months now, and have been scared to go to the doctors,

I was wondering, if I did go, how will they stop it?
What can they do?

I'm just worried, that its something sinister,

Iv had this but it was my anxiety causing it. The more adrenaline in your body the worse it will be, go to your opticians but you will be surprised what anxiety can do x

Used to get this all the time a few months ago, now only occasionally, still is pretty frightening when it happens. Mine slowly got better, probably because my anxiety slightly improved. Like previous post said you could go to opticians for peace of mind, I did and was told I had perfect vision, so it was anxiety with me. :flowers:

This is quite common. I have had it once and was told by the optician that it was nothing to worry about provided you get your eyes tested regularly and everything is normal when they check the back of the eye.

I had this last Christmas. I was in River Island and thought somebody was taking a photo of me! :D I went to the opticians, and was told that anxiety and worrying about flashes can cause them! Mine went as soon as I heard that :blush:
