You need to work at it and accept the challenges they give you to make the most of it.

HI
Have been advised by my Dr waiting list is 6-12 months, how long did you have to wait? My friend have several sessions for public speaking and it really helped her with her nerves, she swore by it, good luck, Kirsty [8D]

Hi - I am very lucky in that our primary health care team do CBT and the wait was only a few weeks. I have bought the book "mind over mood" and am starting working my my cbt therapist from 29th september - she says I need to stop being negative and wants to boost my self esteem so I question any negative thoughts and really try to break them down and realise how to change them. I believe it will help as I know how easy it is to downward spiral into negativity so will let you know how I do.
Take care. be kind to yourselves. love wenjoy xx

Hi Lisa,
I am currently seeing a CBT practitioner for my anxiety disorder. It is a great help and i can see the result. With CBT you learn about your irrational thinking and the way to change your thoughts, as negative and 'what if' thinking escalates anxiety and produses all this physical symptoms(which makes you worry even more!). CBT teaches you how to break this cycle. Medication alone can not do his. So i think it is the best way to recover!
Good luck!
Anna

I did a session of CBT probably around 9 hrs over 9weeks it finnished in August last year. It help but I needed more sessions and more intense. They discharged me non the less - but did advise if I wasn't still right to go back to the doctor and I would be refered much quicker, as they knew my case. Well I went back to the docs in October 2008 and I'm still waiting for an appointment. I had a new assesment 2 months ago, they explained the lady who had my file was off long term ill and had not passed it on to anyone. They found it on a desk been used as a tea mat. You might be a bit luckier but don't just expect a few months if it's the NHS - good luck

Rich :hugs:

I see, I didn't notice the date there. Still there's something a bit crazy about answering to stuff from 6 years ago. I'm currently living in 2012, things have changed a bit, oh and the Olympic games were really great worth waiting for. Well I'm off back outside to tend to my pink giraff. Hello x
