Pain in my left thumb/hand?

Just now i was holding my glass of water and my thumb started throbbing and i had to put the glass down, the numbness went but the throbbing lasted a minute and now its gone? the throbbing moved to the area between my thumb and the finger next to it, i immediately thought the worse (heart)

any thoughts what this could be?
