does it ever stop? what exactly causes it? my life feels like its getting easier and a bit less stressful but im feeling all unreal and lightheaded. im on 10mg paxil for almost a month now. i feel like it does nothing so im thinking about coming off of it next monday when i see my doctor again. derealization was the first symptom i got of anxiety. its the worst. then after having it for a while, it ended up going away and i didnt have it for a few weeks. then it can back worse than before. then it went away for a week. then it came back again about 7 weeks ago and it hasnt really stopped since. within these 7 weeks i started taking paxil. for some reason, i think that im permanently have derealization. or i think that paxil is doing this to me. could this be true? can i have this forever? its really scary. please someone explain it to me. id love to hear from others who have or had this and maybe had it for a long time and how they mightve recovered from it.

I only get derealisation now and again really. But I do know how it feels for symptoms to go away and come back again. I can't find any reason for mine though. Or one symptom to go and be replaced by another one.

I'm on Seroxat, which made me dizzy and confused at first. My doctor was great telling me the best way to take it. I had taken meds for depression before so I know they make your brain feel funny to start with. But luckily for me mine seems to have settled a bit now.

Glad you're seeing your doctor again soon. They do say things get better before they get worse, but this may not be the right meds for you. There are so many different ones. I know its hard to break the cycle of anxiety, but try to hold onto some hope. At least you are seeing your doctor so on the way to recovery.

Lisa.

Hi,

I was very much the same as you. Derealization was my first symptom and i have to say i jad it constantly for quite a long time. Nearly a year. However it does go and i only get it very occasionally now and again and when u do it kind of hits you. Its easy to say just ignore it but i know from my own experience the more u think about it the worse it gets.

Hope this helps a little

Terrifying symptom and one of my main ones. I had it for months.
Paxil did it to me. I also get it now and then now that I am on a different drug but I accept it and it goes away.
Its hard to do but it does go away. Paxil helped give me derealiasation though thats for sure.
If it is paxil maybe, then try a new med and accept the derealisation and it will go.

Hope that helps

Ok Ive had derealization before in the past and it lasted for two months it then went away for about a year and now just recently it returned and it's worse then ever I hate it keeps me from sleeping and it's just plain terrible I'm sorry you have it cause I know exactly how it feels and I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone.
