My anxiety is at the worse ever, help pls?

I have never experianced anxiety this bad before.

It's all because of this throat of mine.


I'm having to have a sweet in mouth 24/7 to stop the pain.
It does not hurt when i swallow but feels sore throughout the day.

Whent doctors, he said the throat was red, so I guess I can rule out it's caused by anxiety.

I have been on antibiotics for two days and nothing, chemist said 24/48 hours, which has got me thinking the worse.

The doctor also said "throat problems are investigated after 8 weeks, if still causing problems".

Because of the doctor saying this I'm worrying it is something serious as i had this throat problem two weeks ago, which I assume the first course of antibiotics worked as I felt good.

Also, I have been struck with shingles, this is not a cencearn but it proves how low I am.

1) How long should I take these antiobiotics for to hope they work?
2) What did the doctor mean to investigate (CANCER etc).

sometimes you have to take the full course before they start to work.
investigate can mean only that they would look for another reason, and no not cancer. it could be anything.
my hubby had a lump that he could feel in his throat for ages, went to the docs and was sent straightaway to hospital for camera etc. he didnt have to wait 8 weeks, so this should tell you that your gp is not concerned about this. hubbys lump was cause by heartburn.(thank god)
as for shingles, i had this in march this year, i blame this for my anxiety now. it effects all your nerve endings, immune system etc. im still having pains where the rash was. its not very nice to have is it?
you can have a lot of health problems after, so this could be the cause of your throat thing, and as your immune system is already down this could be why you are not responding quickly to the penicillin.

Calm down Red. the antis will only work for an infection which you probably dont have. Shingles is a virus so dont you think that could affect your throat too?

Also if it was something nasty it would surely hurt when you swallowed.

Still no better today, I think the more the days go by without the antibiotics doing anything, the more I'm worried.
