Question about colds

About 3 weeks ago I caught a cold after a field trip and it quickly went away, but now i've been left with nasal congestion and a cough but still sound like i am ill, even though i don't feel it.

i'm worried about recurring infections now :( or that my immunity is low. my mum did have this same cold that lasted for ages as well though, we usually both get rid of colds within about 3 days.
my question: if it was something bad would the feeling of the actual cold stay for a long time or can it be the after symptoms as well?

Sometimes the after effects of a cold can linger, like the cough or sinus problems. If you don't feel very sick and you're not in pain with it then I wouldn't worry too much, but a visit to your doc might put your mind at rest :)

i visited the doctor last week and she listened to both my chest and my back and said absolutely everything was perfectly clear. she said it's a heavy lingering cold and didn't prescribe me with anything..
