My HA has been pretty good but today I am having a panic attack.

I had my cholesterol checked as HC runs in my family and my GP wanted to make sure that it wasn't high as I also have multi Lipomas which is genetic as well.

I am SO scared they are going to tell me it is so high I can have a heart attack at any moment.

I am 31, quit smoking a year ago, lost five stone two years ago and I am now slim and active so there isn't much I can change about my lifestyle to change it and I don't want to take statins.

UGH.. I feel sick.

A high cholesterol does not mean you are going to have a heart attack any minute now.

My mum's is high and they say it is genetics causing it as her diet and lifestyle is fantastic.

I will copy and paste this from elsewhere.

I would love your opinions. I am wondering if I should just push for the statins just so I can lower the anxiety.

I got my results back.. My total levels were 6 something... almost 7 I should be under 5.

She said that this is likely the cause for my lipomas.

GP was very nice. Basically, she wants to re-check my thyroid first to make sure my levels are right as I just increased my dose. If they aren't fine she will up my dose then check my cholesterol levels again in a few weeks and go from there.

If my thyroid is fine she will then refer me to the heart specialists (endro something or other).

I asked her why and she said she didn't feel comfortable putting me on statins as I am young, slim, don't smoke, exercise and my diet is decent enough so she isn't sure if the benefits of taking them would outweigh the risks of being on them.

She went through my risks of heart disease, while a lot of my family has had heart attacks and strokes they were all over 60 and they were also either smokers, diabetics, obese with high blood pressure. My blood pressure is perfect.

I am really quite scared, me being me is probably going to blow this out of proportion. She said she isn't even thinking of me having a heart attack at my age and if she was she would put me on statins straight away.

I will have my thyroid checked tomorrow and see the GP again Thursday. A part of me is tempted just to ask for statins so I don't have to go through the anxiety of waiting to see the heart people.
