Hi,

On Wednesday I was put on the following medication because my anxiety was getting out of control:-

Citalopram 20mg (one a day)
Propranolol 40mg (twice a day)

I was wondering how long they will take to work and how would I know if they are working (sounds a weird question but I have no idea).

Hi Red,
citroplram can take a few weeks to get into your system. I think the other is a beta blocker and should calm you down quite quickly after taking a tablet. I used to take them on a as and when basis (ie if i was having a bad day).
If they are working you will feel less anxious, more able to cope with things and have more good days than bad.
Good luck with them,

Hi red!
Mine took about three to four weeks to start to make any differents in me!
I only started on 10mg as the sideaffects were to much on 20 for me,im only tiny. And to really make a reel improvement in me it took three months and upping them slowly to 20mg.
Hope this helpsxxxxxx

Hi Red you won't have yet, as the other's have said it can take up to 4 weeks or more, the propranolol is only a beta blocker and should help a little straight away, it blocks your adrenaline which should make you feel more relaxed.
