Hiya,

Feeling so miserable and anxious at the moment and really need help!!

I'm a 32 year old woman.

In 2005 I experimented with my ex with anal sex (twice)

In 2006 I was diagnosed with high grade cervical pre-cancer caused by HPV which was treated.

In 2006 I took myself for an anal smear test (to be on the safe side). High risk HPV was found.

Clear cervical smears since, until March 2013 where a clear cervical smear also picked up high risk HPV and been referred back to colposcopy next week :weep:

Since 2006 I have had "problems" with my anal area... itching, a bit "leaky" etc. In the last year the itching has got worse and I've had a bit of bright red blood when I go to the loo. So today I took myself to the GP... he saw a couple of grey patches around my anus and a couple of small haemorrhoids. He has referred me to a specialist.

I am terrified I have anal cancer or pre-cancer. I really can't cope with this (I've also had two miscarriages following IVF in the last 6 months). I feel horrendous about my body. I'm worried that the GP was trying to make me feel better by saying I had haemorrhoids - he referred me without hesitation.

Please help.

Doesn't sound like cancer to me and the doc will be referring you to maybe have a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy to check the bowel out more thoroughly.

Thanks Nicola. I've never had haemorrhoids before and so I'm really struggling to think positively. Has anyone here had piles and can share their experiences?

I really don't want to Google!

thanks

Yes they do itch. I did try the anusol cream which may help but then i had to have a steroid suppository which worked much better.

It's apparently some sky high statistic on how many people get piles!! 1 or 2 in 4, Especially after having kids - so I wouldn't worry yourself lovely - good to always be on the safe side so your doing the right thing xx

Your doctor wouldnt say he saw haemarroids sorry not spelt right! if you didnt have them.

They cause itching, bleeding, leaking all the symptoms you describe.
