So, have an appointment at the breast clinic this afternoon for 'peace of mind'. My GP is very fed up with I think - have been multiple times in the last month to get them to check a lump I thought I found (had badly bruised breast). My doctor doesn't think there's anything there but am still so scared.

Hopefully you will get peace of mind from the clinic. You should know that GPs are very good at spotting cancer, they usually find it obvious. Today I am waiting for blood results over the phone and the surgery have already told me they are abnormal.

Apple81 - you will be absolutely fine sweetie. I had to go to the breast clinic last October about a lump and was scared as hell. The doctors/nurses will know how nervous you are and will put you at ease. They know exactly what they are looking for so when they tell you there is absolutely nothing to worry about please believe them. Let us know how you get on. xx

Well, had to wait a while in there (was really busy) but am absolutely fine. Touch wood! Consultant examined me first and taught me how to examine myself properly. He said I have some thicker areas of tissue (fibrodeanosis?) which is completely normal and there was no lump. Scan picked up same thing and they were more than happy to discharge me. So, big relief! Except, of course, that my HA brain then started to think about inflammatory breast cancer again. I really need to stop this and just relax.

That's fantastic news, Apple! I am really pleased for you. I hope this has put your fears to bed once and for all. As for the inflammatory BC, you can bet they checked you for that too.

You did it. You have made it through a scary time. I have loads of admiration for you xx

Great news! It's called fibroadenoma - exactly what I have. Mine is huge (3 x 3cm) and it will NOT at any stage turn cancerous.
You can rest easy now and relax. Well done for getting through it. Big hugs. xx

Last month found lumpiness in left breast saw two gps neither concerned. 2nd gp who I see re my anxiety referred me to top great specialist in NI. Breast exam done and ultrasound done nothing found thank god. Only problem is I have continuously checked myself every week since. Had bout of flu last week and was waking up panicking as thought pain in right hand side of breast was sinister. Ive checked myself 3 times this week and have my period no lumps found. I'm small chested and can feel just ribs muscles. Stopped taking my meds before Xmas and restarted yesterday as I'm feeling very low. Have spoken to friends and mother about this and still can't get my head round it. Doctor didn't ultrasound right hand side and now I'm convinced its something bad. She did check both to see for similarities but advised it could be enlarged lymph node. Thinking Ive lost the plot, any advice x
