Hi all,

My name is Nick. I've been suffering from health anxieties for about 3 months now (off and on ... lately more on than off). I'm worried i have everything from oesophagal cancer (I have reflux and am trying to get off meds because this is where all my trouble started), had blood in my stools (convinced myself I have bowel cancer as well even though i have piles and that's probably more likely) had urine issues (was worried about bladder cancer as well). I managed to sort of get those on an even keel and worried less (and googled less). then i went to the optician and failed my visual fields test. twice. in my right eye (though i failed on different points each time which is strange). they are to see me in a weeks time again to try. I took a panic attack in the shopping centre after my test and almost passed out as i looked up why they do the test and im convinced i have a tumour now. i have headaches but i thoughr it might be either from stress and worry that i go through constantly or because im on my computer a lot (googling things :/). if my girlfriend hadnt been there i would have. these health worries are driving me crazy. everyone is fed up hearing about it and it's really getting me down. i dont know what to do, beginning to feel at my wits end :(

Thanks for listening

Any advice would be appreciated

Nick

hi nick are you worrying about a brain tumour? because if the opticians suspected anything you would be moved onto a dr, so try not to worry about it, you will probably be fine next time you go, panic attacks are just nasty i get them, blessings

Hi,

I too failed a field of vision test after I woke up blind in my left eye (the blindness left after 5 mins).
So I went straight to my opticians and they did the field of vision test and my left eye failed it badly, I thought it could have been a stroke of the eye or a tumour. So a few weeks later I seen the eye specialist at the hospital they did another field of vision test and it was ok.
And then a full eye check up and I was given a clear bill of health

Failing a field of vision test could have been just one of them things and you have got it in your head that something is wrong. Its a useful test but a negitive result on its own does not add up to much.

As aggiecuttler said if they thought something serious was wrong you would have been referred straight back to your doctor for futher tests.

Try to stay calm and take a step back and re asses what has happened and hopefully you will have a different outlook.

hi, im 17 and have tons of visual problems from floaters, flashing lights, visual snow! You name it i have it!

I went to the doctors and i was perfectly fine, although i needed glasses for being so far sighted in my right eye. I did the visual field test where they put an eye patch over my eye and had me click a button when i saw flashing lights. I failed it the first time but the 2nd time i did alright. im diong it again when i pick up my glasses.

When i cover my left eye and stare at something to long with my right, my vision seems to go black until a blink, then shortly after starts going black again, it scares me to pieces.

I often fail those follow the finger tests; my eyes just don't want to stretch that far sometimes, particularly when I'm tired. Everyone is different. The docs often think it's odd, but it doesn't worry me. I had an mri and I didn't have a tumour.
