I started out with a cold on friday and since sunday have had a really sore dry throat. When I try to cough this thick thick phlegm starts to block my throat and I can't breathe so start to panic. The more I try to cough the more comes up and adds to the blockage. I then try just clearing my throat and again it just keeps coming but not actually coming out just sitting there blocking my throat.
I'm in work at the moment and feel absolutely traumatised. I'm terrified to cough.
Has anyone had this before? I tried drinking lots of warm drinks, water, water with honey, gargled salt water, ate spicy food, breathed in steam but nothing is loosening it up.
