Hey guys. I don't suffer from health anxiety but this seems the best place to post. After having long term back and leg problems, and a mis-read MRI i have been told i have a degenerative disc which is herniated as well. So the ortho has booked me in for an epidural steriod injection and I was just curious if anyone here has had this done? Read mixed reviews about it and seems to effect people differently. If it doesn't help I've been to told to consider a spinal fusion.

Have you found the pain support website - loads and loads of people on there who have had every spinal proceedure done.

Personally ( I have multiple herniated spinal discs from neck to lumbar) I would not have an op unless I could not cope with the pain even on medication or if I was getting loss of function due to nerve impingement.

Spinal fusion can be great but then again not always and usually problems develop above the fusion later on even if the fusion is a sucess at the time.

Its a really hard call and only you can make the decision. If you do decide to go ahead make sure its with a specialist spinal surgeon and not just a bog standard orthopeadic surgeon.
