My first reaction when I wake up in the morning is the feeling of fear. Does anyone else get this? Does anyone know how to stop it happening?

Another thing I've found since my anxiety started is I itch a lot more especially the sides of my head. Is that normal or is it just me?

Yes , it is usual.. and if I were to be 'home alone' that day it would be much worse .

It lasted weeks and weeks it seemed and then slowly as I learnt to distract myself and talk constructively to myself it reduced and then eventually stopped being an issue .

I too had an itchy head but I hadn't made the anxiety connection until you just mentioned it.

I'm glad you had itchy head. I was a bit embarrassed about mentioning it but it has been bugging me. I feels much better when I know other people feel the same.

Hi Megs

Think of it this way.

When you get anxious your body prepares for fight or flight, your blood races to the important parts of your body and we sometimes get 'goose bumps'. Perhaps your itchy head is you getting these 'goose bumps' on your head and therefore moving your hair follicles thus making your head itch?

Does that make sense?

Thanks Sarah. That does make sense to me. Well thats how I'll think of it in future anyway.

Hi megs. Yes I wake so frightened and shaking, but this has only been since Christmas I didn’t have this symptom before and really dont know what brought it on. As for itching about 10 years ago I had really itchy tops of legs it drove me nuts for over a year. I seen a Skin specialist and he said it was lichen planus and related to stress, but this went itself in time.

i always wake up wid fear, i donno how to stop it but i do know wat to do after ur awake. just think to ur self ''wat am i scared about'' then addition to that how it could be good like for example:

you wake up dis morning and the first thing that cums to mind is that dentist appointment, ur worried u have sumot wrong wid a tooth and the dentist is gonna drill holes into ur tooth. the good thing could be that there is othin wrong with any tooth, no pain at all. its only gonna be a check up, nowt else

see, its that easy!!!

I know just what you mean about waking up with fear and not knowing why.

Some mornings I have the exact same thing.
I'm sure that it is just the worry of what the day has in store us, that's all.
