Does anyone else get a 'feeling' in their chest? It's very hard to describe but it's like something's welling up or bubbling. There's no pain and I assume its gas. But it's not like indigestion when you get burning bile in your throat, but it does seem that sometimes these skips I get with my heart accompany a 'bubble' moving around in there. Like ill get a skip and then a bubble will move in my chest or the welling will go back down.

It's like chicken and egg. Does the welling cause the palpitations or does the palpitations cause the welling?

Hi, I have this every day.... It's just like trapped wind seems to go when belched...

Do you get the palps with it?

I get gurgling in my throat too, like water going down a plug hole. But no acid. I've got loads of wind under my ribs.

Well I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like gas moving around in your upper bowel to me :)

Do you have IBS??

I have IBS and sometimes I get a lot of gas and I, too, get the bubbling and gurgling just under my ribs usually.

The palpitations could be a couple of things really, it could just be complete coincidence that you get a palpitation at that time or it could be that the bubbling feeling you're getting makes you a little anxious which will trigger palpitations.

I'd go have a chat with my doctor and see what they say. I'm sure they'll be able to put your mind at rest :)

My gp has always said that gas doesn't cause palpitations but its a blooming big coincidence that I seem to get a bad spell when I have it or indigestion.

I think it's more than coincidence... I've been told of a direct connection between what the stomach is doing, and the heart... vagus nerve?? can't remember the full explanation, but basically if your stomach is out of sync, aggravated overfull or gassy, it can cause palpitations, and this seems to be my biggest trigger of palps.. hence I only eat small meals now. I also have stopped drinking diet coke, and things have improved a lot.

I just found this link.. it explains it better than I just did :)

Thanks for your replies. I don't understand why GPs don't get this link then?

I had an awful night. Woke up feeling overwhelmingly nauseous. Tried to stay calm but I started sweating. Skips were still coming and it got worse when I laid down. Feel drained of all energy today.

Still feel bubbling under my ribs today and skips still happening, welling still into my throat.
I feel so unnaturally tired I am sure it's not right.

Maybe you've got a bit of upper stomach irritation at the moment...? Might be worth treating it as such, and see if the palpitations calm down.

Drinking hot water helps to bring up gas, and if you put a mint sweet in the cup & let it melt into the water, the mint also helps with nausea & indigestion.

Re the doctors and the heart/stomach link.. one GP at my practice said "no connection", one said there was.. and it was only when I saw a heart consultant that I had it explained fully to me.

I suppose GPs aren't specialists but I'd you have enough people going in saying the same thing....
