Has it is breast cancer awareness month.......we seem to have been bombarded with articles etc in papers on the news.........so this has lead me to become very aware of myself to the point where i am paranoid ive got breast cancer........could anyone tell me if a chest xray would pick up an abnormality in my boobs-had one done last month..it came back normal...sorry i feel stupid asking this, but the thought of finding a lump terrifies me.........im resisting going to the doctors as he will think this is my next obsession.

hi when,

i know how you feel, breast cancer seems to be everywhere at the moment. i would be surprised if a chest x-ray would pick up breast lumps - really because it is an xray of inside your chest, not inside your breast tissue. but i don't know, maybe someone else knows about these things.

i think its best to just check once a month, try not to become too obsessive about it, but if you are feeling worried dont feel bad about going to the doctors - that is what they are there for after all.

You need a mammogram x-ray to check for that. I had one done 3 weeks ago and still waiting for the results.

You will know if there are any problems cos there will be lumps that you can feel.

People will forget what you said
People will forget what you did
But people will never forget how you made them feel

Hi there

You either need a mammogram or an ultra sound scan to say whether or not you have a lump. Even if a lump is shown it has to be removed before they can say whether or not it is cancerous.

This is why breast awareness month is held so people are aware of checking it is not done so people worry.

Lumps more often than not are benign.(non cancerous)

If you have not got a lump or have any change in your breast I would try not to worry.

If anyone is worried about any sort of lump please go to your Dr as soon as possible and s/he will reassure you or investigate further. It is better you go and maybe a bit embarrassed and be told it is nothing than go too late.
