Can anyone relate?

Even when i feel ok and am doing well with my anxiety I have this underlying fear that if my husband leaves me (ifs and buts i know)!
I will fall to pieces. I realise this must be a common anxiety but its realy overwhelming for me. I think about what it would be like if he was not around, if he left me or died and the mere thought of being without him paralyses me. My train of thought goes straight out the window and the constant thoughts and GAD flood in. weve been together 13 years and got married in august 06 so i dont understand this insecurity. I think i just need to know that i would cope with my anxiety if he was not around but it seems impossible. has anyone else suffered separation whilst in the midst of anxiety? do you cope or fall to bits??

Michelle.

Hi gad,

I suffered a break up about 6 years ago whilst in the height of anxiety(ive been ill for 15 years on and off) and surprisingly the anxiety and panic takes a back seat cos youre so wrapped up in thoughts of him and your time together so you dont think of the anxiety!! Well thats how it worked for me anyway.

Suffice to say im glad we broke up because im now married to a wonderful man.The reason youre scared of losing him is cos youre scared of everything at the moment but that is the one closest to your heart so youll worry about that most. When you start to feel better(and you will)those nasty insecurities will fade just like everything else.

Hope thats helped,Candie xx:)

I get these feelings to,I think alot of it is the anxiety.Iv been with my partner 24 years.I worry how I would cope without him,and aslo how I would cope if anything happened to my parents.I hate being alone.

Thanks for your replies!

It is very strange - my anxiety gets so much worse when even the mere thought pops into my head. I lost my mum 6 years ago and looking back I felt the same about her, constantly worrying that i just wouldnt cope - but although hard i did so i suppose that should give me some reassurance!

Of course it does. Anxiety and panic are driven by your thoughts processes.
