I have tried to avoid reassurance seeking but completely preoccupied with this worry so feel the need to share.
After randomly messing with my ear, I found a raised lymph node right behind my ear lobe.
It feels roughly a cm but not sure. It doesn't hurt but is hard. I can't move it but I'm not sure if this is due to its location? It's slightly under part of my jaw so can't feel the full shape (of makes sense.)
I am hoping that this is be sise I had my ears pierced last week and its been a bit soar. However, would it be a hard node in this case!?!
Argh: one worry after another.
I already have 4 other feel able nodes in my busy. Although they are not as hard x

Help

Please x

PLEASE NOTE I am not a doctor, only your GP can examine this and reassure you.

However - I found one of these behind each ear in my teens. I was terrified. I went to the doctor and to the ENT specialist and was told they were 'concretions' - I don't know if this is a technical term but they meant that following a few infections the node had sort of solidified.

I'm in my fifties and they are still the same, never given me any problems.

So it may be something and nothing. Get it checked and let us know. x

I believe moveable is a positive sign. As is pain!?
I appreciate your response thanks. I will go GP on Thursday. I just get paranoid as I seem to go GP very often. I've been for two other lumps before, both still present, groin and neck.
They are aware of my new lymphoma worry.
I worry they won't take me serious or will fob me off x

I have posted about this in the past, I have had 3 swollen nodes behind my ear for over a year. They are moveable and can be painful, both good signs according to my GP, I had blood tests to rule out certain conditions and now I just put up with them, One very reassuring thing I was told about nodes was that a doctor can tell straight away a sinister one from a harmless one and don't be worried about going back to your GP if you are concerned, they are the best people to help put your mind at rest about this.

I think that's why I'm worried as I can't move it. Don't k ow if this is because its so close to my jaw

Most likely due to infection, if it were sinister it would be highly unlikely to be confined to only one node or be so small.

Yeah possibly.
I have other lymph nodes which I can feel, groin (x2) and neck (x1) but these have been checked via GP and apparently ok. I thought I could feel one one cheek (near bottom jaw) but dentist said it feels normal.
Stressing me.
I prob only noticed it as i was messing with my ear piercing.
Will I ever believe GP tho?
Would they have got huge by now?

If it makes you feel any better, I've had hard a lymph node behind my right ear ever since I was a kid and I'm still here.

One thing you don't hear often about lymph nodes but that I was told is that sometimes after you get better they "scar" (for lack of a better term) and don't go back down again to normal and just remain that size for good.

Of course, I'm not a doctor (more's the pity. I hear the money's good and you're not allowed self-diagnose) and if it really is upsetting you, go see your GP.

Yeah thanks for that.
Going GP tomorrow....again!
Fed up with being so paranoid about it. I feel like all the evidence mounts up to something sinister, but no one takes me seriously!
Maybe I need a full body scan to put my mind at ease x

i want a full body scan too....probably wouldn't help though cos i would think they didn't study the image enough.

im so tired and dizzy today cant even think about being anxious, makes a change lol.

i know loads of people with hard nodes behind the ear, you can see them on people who don't even know they have them.

Yeah I agree. But if I think about it, I've had (within 5yrs) a MRI of whole spine, MRI head, ultrasound on an artery, ultrasound on my eye, blood tests, smear, colonoscopy and I STILL find something to worry about!!!
Whole body scan..... Prob still worry 6 months later x

I forgot to add that I've have a dermatology appointment and ECG to. But point is Darren, even after all those I STILL don't feel confident. I now want a biopsy of my lymph nodes and a liver scan and an X-ray on cheek.
Where does it stop !?

It's apparently swollen lymph glad due to having my ears pierced.
The others I can feel could apparently be scaring from this.
Don't feel that reassured but that's HA for u x

Woke up still worried. I wish I would have asked for a referral to check them out! I feel like I can't go back to the GP now.
Ill have to wait until next month and see of they have gone down (which they won't have done.)
