Citalopram and intrusive thoughts

Hello, I'm John. I've been on Citalopram for 8 days now and I'm dealing with a lot of usual side effects. I thought I was through the elevated anxiety, but last night it was higher than normal. It culminated in some scary violent intrusive thoughts. I can deal with just about everything else but that one really sucks. Does anybody else find this is a side effect? Or is it just the intense anxiety? If it is a side effect is it just for the initiation period?

Anxiety can take you to some scary dark places .... im going through similar myself at the mo and i know its the anxiety try and just turn the dark thought into a happy thought. I know easier said than done but im hoping eventually the anxiety will run out of dark places to send me!!
