Hey!

Yesterday before going to sleep I performed one of my routine lymph node checks (as I do everyday). As I was feeling my neck, I felt this weird thing, and it didn't feel like a lymph node, because swollen lymph nodes are supposed to feel round or oval shaped; instead, this thing that I felt was like a weird feeling non-round lump and it was long and it was somewhat movable. So my question is: could it have been like a muscle,or an artery or some other thing that is located in the neck area?

Also, can anxiety cause stomach pain? Because lately, I've been having lots of anxiety related problems and my stomach hurts like a few inches above my belly button (in the centre of stomach, a little bit below the middle part of my rib cage), it's a dull and persistent pain that goes away and then sometimes comes back. What organ is located in that area? Could I have cancer?

What you are describing could very well be a tendon or muscle. I am not an expert but that is my 2 cents. As for the stomach area, anxiety can wreak havoc on your stomach/colon area. If the pain is not persistent then I would advise you not to worry about it. Try some fibre and and chamomile tea. Those help me a lot. Again, I am not a doctor, just a guy with 2 decades of anxiety.

Oh man, lymph node checking, I went through months of that and have about 6 different docs/specialists examine my neck, armpits and groin, only to be told that I didn't have any swollen glands. Of course, I didn't believe any of them.

One thing that stuck is that an ENT told me that you have lots of different lumps and bumps in your neck. I still have the lumps I was obsessing about, but I am now satisfied that they have just always been there. Go to the doc, say you think you have swollen glands and let them feel around. Don't tell them about the lump you have been worried about until after they examine you.

Let us know how you get on...

Cheers,

Rich.

From time to time I go through periods of being a neck-checker and to be honest, I don't know what I am feeling- bone, muscle, sinew, lymph node, fat- couple be anything. I do it for reassurance but I rarely get any reassurance at all, just more worry. I have made my neck really sore in the past doing this. It's so pointless, I don't even know what the nck is supposed to feel

If you're genuinely worried about a lump or bump then do see a doc but the constant checking has to stop. I am telling myself that as much as I am telling you xx
