View Full Version : Looking to Understand and Learn

Hi,

New here. I don't suffer from anxiety but I'm trying to gain a better understanding of the malady.

I'm a recent cancer survivor. I was diagnosed last November. Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Head and Neck, Stage IV. Neck dissection February 7th, 6 weeks - 30 radiation treatments and 6 weekly chemos ending 4-24-13. NED (No Evidence of Disease) on 8-6-13.

Other than some butterflies when scan time came I'm fine. Yes, I did the usual Dr. Google when it seemed like it was inevitable I had cancer and scared the bejeebers out of myself, but having faced death several times in the last 6 years (two heart attacks, cardiac bypass and stents and then cancer), I just don't stress about anything. However, I know of many survivors who totally lose it with every little twinge. I also see dozens of posters on the cancer forums that are obviously suffering from severe health anxiety.

I'm just looking for some insight so I can better help others and recognize it in myself should I spiral down that path.

Wishing you all the best.
Positive thoughts and prayers
