View Full Version : hi im katrina
Hi everyone,
Im 22, live back home with my parents and brother. I have agroaphobia and emetophobia. forever had emetophobia but it was totally controlled until about two years ago while i was finishing A levels, it got so bad that agroaphobia took over, im sure a few of you would of found the same thing. I love to read and my X box is my idol. I get on really well with my dad, must say he has always been my best mate, he is an artist and not the kind who stacks piles of bricks! I used to be a carer for the mentally ill which i miss. Im looking forward to getting to know you all, thanx for taking time to read this.
much love,
katrina

Katrina, hope you're okay today :)
My agoraphobia evolved from my long term fear (26 years) of throwing up. What happened to me (briefly) was that i was at work, 20 something weeks pregnant and i passed out, came round and thought i was going to throw up in front of quite a few of my collegues. So....i am freaking out No. 1 because i am going to be sick and No. 2 infront of lots of people!!! From that moment and on top of mad pregnancy hormones i'd convinced myself i was going to pass out and puke everytime i left the house - until i became housebound because it was a lot easier than having to deal with the fear.
I'm slowly getting better, i don't fear puke so much anymore, but i am still unable to go out alone....panic is always there.

Hi all
Thank you for your welcomes, all rather friendly:D
Sarah, you seem to be so alike to me I had a short op and i thought i was going to be sick in front of all the nurses and people on the open ward and then when i got back to college i couldnt stop thinking i would throw up in front of everyone and it didnt help that there were so many people in our group, everywhere i went when i felt scared there would be a load of people chatting away at me in the end the only place i felt calm was home, HUGE mistake! Im so pleased you are kicking the habit of being scared to throw up, thats a really big deal, you gotta be proud of that, its odd but im the other way around i find the CBT got me going out but i was still so scared of being sick after i stopped therapy i started staying in again.
Thanks again for saying hi everyone
take care
