Does medication help with obessive thoughts?

I'm just wondering if medication, along with treating the anxiety feelings/physical symptoms, helps with the obsessive chain of thoughts?

Hey!
I'm on medication due to anxiety, I had a bad experience last year. Life is great now but I have obsessive thoughts, I am on an anti-depressant sertraline 50mg and I have got to say it has helped! They don't take the thoughts away completely but its better to manage them.

I have this problem, and antidepressants do help me somewhat. There is no medicinal cure for anxiety in my opinion, medication just takes the edge off, the cure comes from within - not easy I know.
