hi guys,
was browsing and came across a condition where histamine levels are high and can cause anxiety/depression...i've been suffering from chronic rhinitus for a year now and with other events it coincided with my first anxiety attacks so i started reading around it. has anyone else come across this? one of the treatments involves vitamins and minerals but folic acid (contained in the vitb complex i take is not good for this). my doctor doesnt know anything about this condition (surprise surprise! i've had enough of him really) and i dont know where i can get histamine levels checked. any views/comments?

I don't know about the condition you mention or how easy it is to test histamine levels as they vary all the time but I do know that anxiety raises histamine levels! Hyperventilation particularly makes the body increase histamine levels in the blood which can make allergies worse.
It may be that you have high histamine levels if you suffer from anxiety rather than due to another condition especially if your gp has not heard of it. Not all doctors are good but most have heard of things like that, you can find alot of weird ilnesses on the internet if you look, I've found a few my doctor said don't exist! If you really think there is a problem your doctor cold refer you to an allergy specialist maybe. Good luck.
