Today my brother and nephew visited. After they left, I realised that probably for the first time ever, I was able to spend time with my brother without thinking about the past.
We shared some very unhappy times as children & long into our adulthood we didn't get on. Bearing in mind my brother was pretty horrible to me as a child, it took a lot for me to reconcile with him a few years ago. but I am very glad I did.
Even though today passed without great note, its upon reflection that i realise it was a momentous occasion. Only now Do I realise that not only did I enjoy their company & without even trying to, i remained focused on today, but I realise too that I looked forward to seeing them & had no nerves at all. Now I call that success. I didn't ever think this could happen!!
