Ok so I'm going to Tenerife in 9 days with the girls an working myself into a major tizzy over it! I'm terrified of the flight ... Not of the plane itself though I'm not a massive fan of planes but I'm terrified in going to get a bloodclot in a foreign country and die! In 23, 5.2, 9 and a half stone... i am a smoker however ! And maybe I have a unknown clotting disorder ! This is why I have never took the pill because I'm terrified of bloodclots! ... I'm not actually sure what I'm getting at in this message but feeling worked up about so thought I would share. I'm considering cancelling it really really don't want a bloodclot !

Hi Sarah,

The risks of getting a blood clot are pretty low, especially on a short haul flight. Tenerife is about 4 hours isn't it?

If you are still worried there are a few things you can do to minimise the risks even further. Take an aspirin an hour before the flight to thin your blood, wear compression socks and walk around the cabin if you get the chance.

You'll be fine.
