Hi Everyone,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have finally found a place where I can associate with others with similar thoughts to me.
Since I had my children (i am a 34 year old man) i have been consumed by one health anxiety after another. My latest is that because my dad had kidney cancer at 38, I must have it even though rationally i know the chances are remote, but almost as soon as the thought enters my head, I notice a whole host of symptoms and pains. I struggle to convince myself that they are psycho somatic.
Somehow my brain ignores the fact that by the age of 38 my father had already been smoking for 25 odd years and had worked in the dockyards throughout the 60s when heath and safety at work was not quite so widely acknowledged.
Anyway I just thought i would say hi and I can empathise with all of you.
