View Full Version : Can anxiety really cause chest pain?
I feel terrible been at work since 8 this morning unable to leave as I am in charge and I have been having chest pains/twinges on and off all day I'm really scared could this be anxiety, it's like a sharp pain that lasts seconds xxx

I am getting exactly the same symptoms - it makes you scared to move dosen't it?!

Yes, I get this and was told it is caused by anxiety! So scary, I always think I'm having a heart attack!

I wish it effected the foot or somewhere not so near the heart!!!
Straight answer YES it can.
And it is mainly caused because of the muscles getting over tense and and can be a sign of hyperventalation.
If you find you suffer from chest pain try deep breathing exercises, where you beathe to the stomach (so you can see your belly rise) it allows your lungs to fill up better and not cause tension in chest muscles as when we are anxious we mainly just breathe to the chest.. if that makes sense...
